LEGOLAND Korea Resort Signs Official Agreement for Local Job Creation

The agreement was designed to spur job creation for the residents of Gangwon Province and Chuncheon City and develop local communities, as LEGOLAND® Korea Resort is expected to hire approximately 1,600 employees by its grand opening in 2022.  

 

The signing of “LEGOLAND® Korea Resort Local Job Creation Agreement” took place at the Build & Test at LEGOLAND Korea Resort. Minimal audience was at attendance in light of social distancing, including Mr. Young-Phil Kim - Divisional Director of LLKR, Mr. Choi Moonsoon - Governor of Gangwon Province, Mr. Lee Jae-soo - Chuncheon Mayor, Mr. Kim Heon Young - President of Kangwon National University, and Mr. Kim Choong-soo - President of Hallym University.  

 

Through this agreement, LEGOLAND Korea Resort pledged to strengthen collaboration between the private and public sectors of the Gangwon Province. It also agreed to prioritize Chuncheon City residents and local university students in hiring employees for its 2022 opening. Moreover, the province and city government will be committed to support students and local residents based in the region, and local colleges will also assist in providing training programs relating to LEGOLAND® Korea Resort recruitment.  

 

After the agreement, LEGOLAND Korea Resort is planning to recruit the local talent who complete the training programs of participating colleges, through its own screening process. It will be conducting occasional recruitment this year, setting up internship and public recruitment in the following year when LEGOLAND Korea is scheduled to open. 

 

Young Phil Kim, Divisional Director of LEGOLAND Korea Resort, noted that “As sustainable business development is now the key issue of the industry, it is crucial requirement to lead mutual development and expansion with the local communities in which corporates are based,” adding that “From the agreement, LEGOLAND Korea Resort not only help create high-quality jobs in Gangwon Province, but also actively utilize local produce and companies, in order to drive sustainable economic growth.” 

 

LEGOLAND® Korea Resort is set to open in the first half of 2022, with completing 78% of construction as of late February (*except for LEGOLAND Hotel area). More details can be found on LEGOLAND Korea Resort’s official website and social media channels.
